AIS has doubled in size over the past few years and this has led to a bit of physical overcrowding in certain faculty areas. It has also been sold to Cognita and there are questions about its educational vision being overshadowed by its profit making one. Rental allowances do not cover rent and you should expect to pay around $300-$1000 per month extra depending on where you live and what you want. Teachers are highly professional and collegial but are struggling under the weight of brand new curricula which have been brought in this year. The school follows Australian National Curriculum in Years 7 and 8, IGCSE in 9 and 10, and HSC and IB in 11 and 12. They have thrown out the MYP and the current Year 10s are completing their certificates this year. Everyone works hard at AIS. The students are delightful and the parent body mostly supportive -the usual grumbles from some. Overall, it's a good place to be and there are several long standing staff members to prove it. Singapore is a fabulous place for families and is a great hub for everywhere else.
